The Challenge
The client’s open basement floor plan presented an opportunity to create a fully customized home theater, but they had unique requirements. They wanted a theater experience without the typical tiered theater seats and wanted technology that blended seamlessly into their home without compromising aesthetics.
Additionally, the family hoped to extend their entertainment experience beyond the basement into their bar, living spaces, office, and even their outdoor pool area—all while maintaining a cohesive and discreet look throughout the property.
The Solution
Working closely with the builder during the remodel, 46Solutions was able to design and deliver an entertainment system that met the client’s needs from the ground up.
- Custom Home Theater: A 110-inch projection screen paired with a laser projector provides a cinematic experience. The room features a 7.2 surround sound system with seven in-wall speakers and two floor-standing subwoofers. To solve the seating challenge, 46Solutions worked with a vendor to deliver custom chairs that raise up to 18 inches, eliminating the need for a permanent tiered flooring while still ensuring clear sightlines.
- Distributed Audio: In-ceiling speakers were installed in the basement bar, living room, and home office to provide seamless whole-home audio.
- Design-Friendly Displays: A Samsung Frame TV was chosen for the basement, allowing the display to double as artwork when not in use, preserving the room’s aesthetic appeal.
- Outdoor Entertainment: A discreet landscape audio system was integrated into the backyard, hidden within the surrounding bushes for immersive outdoor sound. An all-weather television was also installed in the pool house, giving the family year-round entertainment options.
- Home Automation: A Control4 system ties it all together. With a single app or remote, the clients can easily manage the theater, bar, pool area, and more.
- Future-Ready Expansion: As the clients build a detached apartment above their garage, 46Solutions has already pre-wired for audio, video, and Control4 integration—ensuring the same level of convenience and quality in the new space.
The Results
The family now enjoys a home entertainment system that is flexible, beautiful, and easy to use. From movie nights in the theater to relaxing by the pool, every part of their home is equipped for comfort and fun.
