D-Bat Lexington, Kentucky

D-Bat-Logo-46Solutions

Located in the north side of Lexington, D-Bat is a sports and recreation franchise, specializing in indoor baseball and softball training.  The facility features 12 cages, 3 machine cages, 2 full pitching lanes, parent lounge and conference room.  In addition to private instruction, camps, and cage rentals, D-Bat also offers private parties and event rentals in their party room.

46Solutions Operations Manager, Alex Blanton, originally developed the idea of the barrel bar lift using technology provided to customers for hidden TVs and hidden coffee bars for kitchen counters.   The original design won the Nexus21 Innovation Award for 2022.

The Project

The 20,000 square-foot industrial space needed prewiring, networking design and installation, internet and wifi, distributed audio, various monitors, digital signage and phone system.  Because the client is a franchise, there were specific corporate specs that needed to be followed.  The job was bid to the out-of-state corporate audio/video partner-of-choice and to local companies.

While the batting cages would be the centerpiece of the project, the scope also included several other areas/rooms which needed integrated technology.

Work began in February of 2021, with a projected opening date of early summer 2021.

The Goal

The client understood that as technology changes and advances, it would be in their best interest to install a system that could be expanded and serviced locally.  Technology would need to be easy to operate by non-technical staff.  The audio/video components needed to be reliable and provide flexibility for a wide range of events.

The HitTrax system was an important component for business.  This simulation system provides a combination of performance data and entertainment.  It allows you to pick a virtual MLB stadium and when the ball is hit in the cage by the user, the system measures and displays real-time data that takes training to the next level.

Distributed audio was requested with multiple zones so the system could be controlled separately in various parts of the facility.

The client also required a voice-over-IP (VOIP) phone system, paired with software that allowed the clients’ mobile phone to be used for incoming and outgoing business-line calls.

The Result

The audio, video and networking solutions provided by 46Solutions provide a great experience for both the staff and customers of D-Bat Lexington.  The scope of the project and budget were met and allowed for additional enhancements.

The commercial AV systems were designed to be concealed into the surroundings, from the white pendant speakers to the wiring of the TV monitors.
